In Maha-Prajna-Paramita-Hridaya Buddha says: “Everything changes, everything passes, things appearing, things disappearing. But when all is over - everything having appeared and having disappeared, being and extinction both transcended. [By whom?] Still the basic emptiness and silence abides [Why would I care if it has nothing to do with me?], and that is blissful Peace [For whom?]"(84). Emptiness, blissful peace have no sense if there is no Absolute

Consciousness, which we can call Atman, like they do in Vedanta.

"In highest samadhi having transcended consciousness, he has passed beyond discrimination and knowledge, beyond the reach of change and fear; he already enjoying Nirvana"(86). Here the term consciousness, like probably generally in Buddhism, is not to be understood as Consciousness in Hinduism but as sort of mental activity. Vinnana belongs to the intellect, while Nirvana for Consciousness is transcendent to intellect.

Again Self as an idea, as well as No-Self , has to be transcended on the absolute level. And on the relative level the latter one is to be used as a mere teaching device to destroy attachment and self love which is an obstacle together with many other ideas connected with Self in the minds of so many.

Suzuki in his "Explaining Zen" says: "Revelation of the divine nature in ourselves is what constitutes the Enlightenment experience of Buddha. This divine nature is what we may call the Absolute Self ... When Buddhism denies Atman this atman is not Absolute Atman but relative atman. When this relative atman is negated, the very negation implies that there is something affirmative behind it, and this affirmation is nothing but Absolute Self. Enlightenment brings out this Absolute Self in its original "Suchness". Buddhism, therefore, ought not to be understood in negative sense"(92). This position, in my opinion, reflects a much better intuition towards Buddha’s teachings and
